When I first started to learn marketing it was a massive headache. I had so many goals set out and never thought I would reach them. I finally stumbled upon a few things that define good marketing from bad marketing. With this knowledge I was able to knock out my marketing goals and move onto a new set of goals.
What is the difference between good and bad marketing? I remember thinking that all marketing was the exact same thing. Just businesses throwing their product name around and calling it good… little did I know that I was completely wrong. Most of the marketing that is shown on a day to day basis does not move the needle, it is just a company saying "THIS IS OUR NAME GIVE US MONEY”. Very bad marketing… We are here to sell our product, not our name. Focusing on getting your product or service out there is one of the key principles to having good marketing. So let's forget about our name and what we do. Instead, let's focus on solving our customers' problems with our product.
The struggle of achieving good marketing When I was running ads for the first time I thought “I am going to get all the leads… this is so easy” I was wrong. I failed horribly the first couple of times. I tried so many different ideas and nothing worked. I spent countless hours trying to pinpoint the problem with the ad and would always end up empty handed. Then one day I stumbled upon three things that absolutely crushed my marketing problems.
Three things to solidify your marketing The first one we will start with is what is your message? Are you trying to tell people you can help solve their problems or are you saying something completely irrelevant towards the sale? People want to hear about how you can benefit them so use this to push them closer to buying. Next, who is it that you are targeting with your marketing? If you are selling surf boards you probably should not be showing an ad to an old lady with dementia. Focus on who NEEDS your product. Finally, what are you using to reach your audience? Are you using facebook ads? Newspaper ads? Or do you have someone standing in the street spinning a sign? Align the media with the age of your audience. These three things if done correctly will make your marketing top tier.
Marketing in a nutshell Marketing has a lot of moving parts and determining if your marketing is working or failing can be very time consuming. Understanding your target audience and the perfect way to reach them can take several tests and you still need to focus on running the rest of your business. You are always able to learn about it all yourself and put in the energy to perfect it. However, if you want us to look at your marketing contact us! It is completely free and we won’t waste your time with any annoying sales tactics.
